Derbyshire business park expansion plans could create hundreds of jobs

Aaron Valentine

Amber Valley Borough Council has given permission for plans to be put forward for a business park extension in the Derbyshire Peak District.

It has approved 60,000 square meters of land to be developed on part of the site of the old Denby Hall Estate at Denby Grange in the Derbyshire Peak District. The plans include a landscaped area, new offices, shops, parking, and a new bus route. The project is supported by the Peak District National Park.

Amber Valley Borough Council’s planning committee had rejected an earlier scheme for the development after concerns were raised over the effect on the natural environment.

But now planners have said that the latest plans will not have an adverse impact on the landscape. It follows objections from Derbyshire County Council, which said there would be an unacceptable loss of green space. But the council has accepted that the revised plans do not have an impact on the landscape and are acceptable.

The plans are designed to improve the facilities and infrastructure for businesses at Denby Grange. They also include a bus interchange; improved pedestrian and cycle links; more car parking, including.

1. The firm said the proposed development would result in a net economic benefit for the city.

2. The Government has now published a notice in the Gazette outlining the steps it is taking to implement its statutory plan, which was last revised in

3. In the notice, the Department for Communities and Local Government said the plan would deliver the Government’s priorities in four key areas: building a prosperous and resilient country; a fair society; a safe, clean, and attractive place to live; and ensuring people have access to a good quality of life, no matter where they live.

4. The statutory plan covers a range of topics that include housing, planning, community safety, education, health, the environment, and transport.

5. It also includes measures to safeguard jobs and the economy by encouraging businesses to be more productive and efficient.

6. The Government will spend around £30 billion improving roads and bridges over the next five years as part of the new roads maintenance fund.

The developers said the project is economically justified because the three companies are all growing. The buildings would include rooftop solar panels as well as ponds to collect floodwater. Denby Hall Business Park already supports over 1000 jobs. It generates around £90 million a year and accounts for more than 10 percent of all of Amber Valley's manufacturing jobs.

The industry has shrunk by 14 percent and that's a lot of jobs. Ms. Dillon said the sector is forecast to take longer to recover from the coronavirus than previously thought.

The former councilor who was a vocal critic of the plans awarded £1,200 compensation. She was hit on the head with a heavy box of files and then dragged by the neck. Her attacker, an ex-councilor, had been sacked from his job at the council.

He was jailed for three months after being found guilty of assault and a slew of other offenses. A spokesman for the council says there are no plans to build on the green belt.
